What is The Phone?
The Phone is a phone. Simply a phone. Except that our phone has the look and ease of use of a smartphone, without the excesses: no internet or social networks. It is a modern and non-addictive means of communication, suitable for both young and old!
There are already touch-tone phones that do the job very well. Why choose The Phone?
No! ThePhone is for everyone: children, adults looking to disconnect, and seniors looking for a simple and secure phone. It's ideal as a first phone or a second device to stay reachable without internet.

Why choose The Phone?
The Phone is THE solution to the eternal argument between parents and children: “Put down your phone”, “No phone at the table”, “Turn off the sound”… By choosing The Phone for your children, you protect them from addiction and exposure to unwanted content.
Why choose The Phone over a keypad phone?
Unlike keypad phones, The Phone has a modern design and a touchscreen that make it attractive to both children and adults, while remaining simple and without internet.
Does The Phone have a geolocation function?
The phone does not have a GPS chip or built-in geolocation function. This means it cannot be located directly from an app or associated service.
If you want to be able to find the device if it is lost, it is perfectly possible to use an AirTag type tag (or equivalent) to slip under the phone case.
This solution will allow you to track the phone's location using a dedicated app. Geolocation is one of the features being considered for our next model, The Phone+.
Why not put a camera/music?
It was a difficult choice for The Phone at the beginning of our story: what features did we have to include? And the more we added, the more we realized that we were moving away from our initial goal and that we didn't want to create a half-smartphone.
So the first model is deliberately purist and focuses exclusively on what makes communication valuable: calling and writing.
To remain attractive to children a little longer and therefore further delay the age of access to the first smartphone, our models will evolve and subsequently integrate certain functionalities, without denying our origins and therefore without deviating towards what smartphones offer.
Why doesn't The Phone have a camera or a music player?
We chose to focus The Phone on the essentials: calls and texts. Adding a camera or music player would have made it more like a smartphone, contrary to our goal of digital minimalism. Simple features could be offered in the future, without deviating from our vision.
Can you create SMS sending groups on The Phone?
No! The Phone does not allow the creation of group chats for sending SMS messages to multiple recipients, as is possible on applications such as WhatsApp.
We pay attention to our users' suggestions and adding this feature is one of the options we are considering for future development.
From the 6th grade onwards, children need a smartphone to access Pronote and certain homework given at school. Wouldn't the Phone be limiting?
They are very smart, the future middle school students who explain to their parents that the smartphone is "mandatory" when entering 6th grade because they will have to do their homework on Pronote ... if Pronote does require Internet access, this can very well be done on another medium: computer, tablet. At least you will be certain that they will not be disturbed during their homework by notifications from applications ...
Can Pronote or Ecole directe be installed on The Phone?
No! Since The Phone is completely disconnected, it is not possible to use applications such as Pronote or Ecole directe, which we advise you to consult from a family computer or tablet to avoid any distraction caused by notifications during homework.
Is The Phone a phone exclusively for children?
The Phone was designed to appeal to everyone, although the most urgent people who needed an alternative to the smartphone were children.
Any adult who wants to take some time to disconnect, in the evening, on weekends or on vacation, can have The Phone as a second phone to stay reachable in case of emergency but without being tempted by notifications or other suggestions from their smartphone.
And we are also convinced that seniors will quickly become interested in The Phone: for its ease of use and protection against cyber-scams of which they are the main victims.
Which carriers can I use my The Phone with?
The Phone is unlocked for all carriers! You can choose the plan of your choice, depending on where you are and your preferred carrier. Keep in mind that no data is required to use The Phone: an unlimited call and text plan is more than enough! The Phone also works with prepaid cards.

Does The Phone charge like other phones (USB C)?
Yes, The Phone uses a USB-C port for charging, similar to many other smartphones.
Does The Phone have better battery life than other smartphones?
Yes, The Phone is designed to offer a longer battery life than traditional smartphones thanks to its high-capacity battery, software optimizations and, above all, the fact that it will be used much less often than a smartphone. Enough to respond favorably to the anxiety that increases proportionally to the battery level that drops.
Usage & Troubleshooting
Is The Phone waterproof (IP68 standard)?
Yes, The Phone is IP68 certified, which means it is waterproof to a certain depth and can resist dust. However, it is of course strongly advised not to intentionally place it underwater.
How do I open The Phone to insert/remove the battery?
To open your phone, you'll find a small notch on the front of the device, at the bottom right. Simply pry it open and the phone will open easily.
Can The Phone be reset?
Yes! You can reset your The Phone by installing the update available via this link .
This update will erase all data from your phone.
How do I check my voicemail on The Phone?
Accessing your phone's voicemail is done by dialing the dedicated number, specific to each operator (Orange 3103 or 888, Bouygues 661, Free 666 etc.).
Can the wallpaper on The Phone be customized?
It is not possible to use a personal photo as a wallpaper on The Phone.
However, you have the option to customize the display by choosing one of the 5 colours offered in the "settings" menu, then in the "screens" submenu.
How do I set the date and time on The Phone?
The date and time are set directly in the Settings menu.
If your The Phone is not up to date (software version 1.0.0), install the update which will allow you to access the date and time settings in the Settings menu.

Is The Phone compatible with foreign operators?
Good news: The Phone is unlocked and works with all international operators that offer 2G or 3G coverage (nano SIM).
Therefore, there is no problem using it both in France and abroad, solely for calls and SMS, without needing internet access.
How do I change the PIN code on The Phone?
The PIN code cannot be changed directly from The Phone.
To make this change, you will need to insert your SIM card into a smartphone, then access the security settings of that phone to change the PIN code.
Once the change has been made, you will simply need to put the SIM card back in your The Phone: the new PIN code will then be taken into account.
What should I do if my The Phone crashes or doesn't pick up the network?
To restart your phone after a crash, press and hold the power button for a few seconds. For network issues, check that your SIM card is properly inserted and that your phone is set to the correct network. If the problem persists, contact your mobile operator or our customer service department at sav@thephone.fr.
Can the password on The Phone be strengthened?
The Phone was designed without an internet connection, which means it is not possible to recover a forgotten password as on a regular smartphone.
To avoid any permanent lockout, it is possible to reset the password directly on the device.
This means that if someone gains access to the phone and changes the password, this change will be visible and can be easily detected.
Currently, there are no additional security or locking options available on The Phone. This choice was made to ensure parents have easy access while minimizing the risk of unauthorized access. A more robust locking system is being considered for future updates.
Will The Phone continue to work when 3G disappears?
In France, the 3G network will remain accessible at least until the end of 2028, or even the end of 2029.
Even in countries where 3G is starting to disappear, 2G takes over and allows your phone to continue to function normally (calls, SMS, etc.).
2G will remain active for the long term because it is the technology used on various systems such as elevator alarms.
Rest assured: we are closely monitoring network developments in order to adapt to them.
What are the dimensions of The Phone and what are the equivalent models?
The dimensions of The Phone (width: 6.7 cm, length: 14.5 cm) are close to those of the iPhone 12 Pro, the iPhone XR and the Samsung A50.
What are the SAR measurements of The Phone?
- SAR head (use of the phone to the ear in voice conversation): limit 2 W/kg, our result 0.225 W/kg.
- SAR torso (phone carried close to the torso, for example in a jacket pocket or in a bag): limit 2 W/kg, our result 0.582 W/kg.
- SAR limb (phone pressed against a limb, for example held in the hand, carried in an armband or in a trouser pocket): limit 4 W/kg, our result 1.665 W/kg.

How to get The Phone repaired if the screen is broken or cracked?
In the event of a broken screen or crack, these damages are unfortunately not covered by the warranty, but we can direct you to our authorized repair partner Geek33, which is QualiRépar certified and has parts specifically adapted to our phones.

Is it possible to get my The Phone repaired near my home?
For now, we have entered into an exclusive partnership with Geek33, a repairer specially trained to repair our phones and having the specific spare parts for our devices, to offer you a quality and affordable service, under warranty and out of warranty.
We plan to eventually deploy this service locally to offer you a more accessible service. We will update this section when the time comes.
Does the phone already have a screen protector installed, and where can I get a compatible replacement tempered glass screen protector?
The phone is delivered to you already protected, with a spare tempered glass in the box.
To replace the protective glass on your device, you have two options:

- Visit a mobile phone store or an e-commerce website. Cases designed for the iPhone 12 Pro or Samsung A50 are perfectly compatible with The Phone (dimensions: 6.7 cm x 14.5 cm).
Where can I find a compatible case for The Phone?
Each The Phone comes with two cases designed specifically for our phones: one transparent and one rigid, customizable.
Regarding compatibility with other cases, we unfortunately cannot guarantee that another model will fit perfectly.
However, the dimensions of The Phone are quite close to those of the iPhone XR, the iPhone 12 Pro or the Samsung A 50.
If you wish to try cases designed for these models, we recommend visiting a phone store with the following measurements: 6.7 cm wide and 14.5 cm long. This will allow you to test them directly on-site and verify compatibility before making a purchase.
Where can I find a USB-C cable/charger compatible with The Phone?

How can I be sure that children will not be able to access the Internet or social networks?
The Phone is based on an operating system developed by us that prohibits access to the Internet and social networks. There is NO way to exit our operating system on our The Phone, even for the geekiest of your youngsters 😊
What are the delivery times for The Phone?
For home delivery, please allow 48 to 72 business hours. For delivery to a Pickup Point, please allow 3-6 days. Our partners do their best to meet these delivery times. Please note that for international orders, this delivery time may be longer. For shipments to the United Kingdom, delivery typically takes six business days.
Is The Phone durable?
Yes, The Phone is designed to be rugged and durable, able to withstand daily use.
What type of SIM can be used on a The Phone?
The Phone is compatible with nano-SIM type SIM cards, like most modern smartphones.
